Writing for the Mountain Xpress

One of the most fun things I do when I’m not trying to put books together is write about Asheville’s local YA/MG authors for our local independent weekly, the Mountain Xpress.

My most recent article was about CM Surrisi, whose middle-grade mystery The Maypop Kidnapping launched this week. Basically, in exchange for writing an article, I got to read a free autographed copy of this charming mystery and got to sit down with another author to talk about how she got into print.

But that’s not the first article I’ve done—I’ve had the privilege of talking to folks like Alan Gratz, Beth Revis, and Megan Shepherd, to name a few, and I’m looking forward to doing more articles this year—especially since all signs indicate that it’s going to be a stellar year for Asheville’s kidlit community. So if you want to find out more about the authors who live in and around my home town, please check out my author page at the Xpress site. And do be sure to look for the books I’ve reported on. I’ve enjoyed every single one I’ve read.
